The thread

Drawn always to where things are made.

Self-taught from age eleven. Born in Moscow, raised in the south of France, based in Toulouse. Across twenty years the work keeps bending toward the same place — not the surface, where things are used, but the layer beneath, where they are made: consensus, protocols, the infrastructure power actually runs on.

The conviction underneath it is sovereignty. Self-custody, displacing the gatekeeper, handing power back to the person — a position held since the early Bitcoin days, and the reason the work has stayed in cryptography and decentralized systems rather than the layer above them.

A craftsman by temperament: zero-dependency, from-scratch, fast, security-conscious. The biggest wins came when a decisive operator owned the commercial front while the engineering was owned end to end — a pattern worth repeating on purpose.

Questions

The short answers.

Who is Alex Werner?
Alex Werner is a full-stack software engineer and crypto / peer-to-peer specialist based in Toulouse, France. Self-taught since age eleven, he has spent twenty years building "the layer beneath the visible world" — consensus protocols, peer-to-peer networks and self-custody infrastructure — with the last nine-plus years in blockchain, DeFi and real-world-asset systems.
What is Alex Werner known for?
He co-invented ChainLocks and the long-living masternode quorums (SML/DML) at Dash Core Group — a consensus breakthrough patented as US20220108285A1, with the underlying technology now woven into projects securing $350B+. He led backend for Dash, a top-five cryptocurrency that reached a ~$10B market cap, and was the first engineer of a social network that scaled to 110,000 users in its first year.
What does Alex Werner specialize in?
Blockchain protocol and consensus engineering, smart contracts and Solidity security, DeFi and real-world-asset (RWA) tokenization, peer-to-peer and distributed systems, wallet architecture and self-custody, and cryptography. His core languages are JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Solidity, Python and Rust, across EVM, Cosmos-SDK and Solana.
Did Alex Werner invent ChainLocks?
He co-invented ChainLocks and the SML/DML masternode-quorum system while at Dash Core Group (2016–2021). He is a named inventor on the resulting patent, US20220108285A1 ("Methods & Systems for Object-Validated Blockchain Accounts"), and the consensus technology is now reused across projects securing more than $350 billion.
What is patent US20220108285A1?
"Methods & Systems for Object-Validated Blockchain Accounts" — a United States patent on which Alex Werner is a named co-inventor. It is the patented foundation behind the ChainLocks and SML/DML consensus work originated at Dash Core Group.
Is Alex Werner available for hire?
He takes on select senior engagements — protocol and consensus engineering, smart-contract and DeFi/RWA work, wallet architecture and security — where depth matters. The fastest way to reach him is the contact form at alex.werner.fr/contact or email obusco@gmail.com.
What has Alex Werner built recently?
As a principal engineer he shipped 20+ production smart contracts (ERC-20/721/1155/4626, vote-escrow governance, treasury and time-locks) and invented a crypto-RWA index on a roughly $100M-TVL gold-and-housing protocol. He is building Scintilla Network, a from-scratch sovereign Layer-1 with native self-custody, multi-asset support and a built-in DEX.
